A letter that isn't in the word in any spot shows up gray. A correct letter in the wrong spot shows up yellow. As shown above, if you have the right letter in the right spot, it shows up green. Wordle gives players six chances to guess a randomly selected five-letter word. The site itself does a fantastic job of explaining the rules: Every 24 hours there's a new word of the day, and it's up to you to figure out what it is. It's fun, simple and, like a crossword, can only be played once a day. Wordle is a daily word game you can find online here. If you're looking for insights into its origins, and how it became such a hit, here's everything you need to know. Surely by now you're at least vaguely aware of Wordle, if only because your friends have at some point badgered you about it. It's also been snapped up by the New York Times. Fewer than a hundred people were playing the daily word game this time last year but, fast forward 12 months, its become a daily staple for people around the world. When all is said and done, 2022 may go down as the year of Wordle.
